UK Drupal Developer

iHubbub is a new website that was launched last week to allow the home working community to meet other start ups, home businesses and freelancers via iHubbub’ social networking tools and to grow their business with helpful resources.

We are looking for a Drupal developer to work with us on a trial basis, after which we could look to retain you on a long term freelance basis.

The Role Objective
The role is instrumental in the growth of the iHubbub as a leading home business network for home business owners, start ups and freelancers.

Talented Drupal Developer with at least 5 years professional experience in a high end technical role is needed for new social community recently launched.

Working with an already developed new site, you will be working in partnership with the founders and team to add new features, explore and adapt Drupal modules, implement CiviCRM and maintain the vision and commercial plans for the site. Any previous experience in developing websites for high volumes of traffic and high rates of memberships will be to your advantage.

Ideally, this could be an ongoing long term freelance project position for someone with the right experience, attitude and passion for the project.

Essential
• Knowledge and experience of Drupal development, preferably Drupal 6/7
• Knowledge and experience of CiviCRM
• Knowledge and experience of Drupal Commons
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript
• Knowledge and experience of programming against web services and API's (Application

Programming Interfaces)
• Graphic Design or User Interface design,
• Knowledge of server set-up and service configuration
• Knowledge of Web 2.0 technologies
• Knowledge of Linux, Apache and MySQL
• Excellent verbal and written skills.

Desirable
• Have an entrepreneurial nature
• Passion for visual design and keeping up to date with new innovations in the social community world
• Experience in writing custom modules for Drupal – and know when to write a module, and more importantly, know when NOT to write a module.
• An understanding of the front end markup (HTML), JavaScript (jQuery) and CSS would be highly beneficial
• Previous experience in developing websites for high volumes of traffic
• Previous experience in developing websites in broadcast or new media industries

Your responsibilities:
• Working with GitHub to execute the future development plans
• Working with directors to see and act out the vision for iHubbub’s market positioning
• Work with marketing and sponsorship team to implement ways to monetise the site
• Project manage outsourced or offshore developers to run a fully functional team of developers, this will include implementing a system to manage their time according to budgets set and ensuring they produce the outputs and tasks agreed
• Ensure site is always online with no critical downtime
• In charge of servers, storage hardware, load balancing and liaison with server management company, currently UKFast
• Constantly assessing the future needs of site’s growth, ie, don't wait for something new to happen, be on the forefront of technical requirements
• Coming up with new technical ways to improve site performance
• Working with site marketing executive to further optimise the site for search engine excellence and traffic escalation
• Work with the board of directors to grow the site commercially
• Report to the board of directors on the site’s performance in the marketplace, development KPIs and all other aspects of the site’s development and development team
• Watch the social networking space to gage new trends and see how they can be utilised in iHubbub

The role will be on a trial for a £2k per month budget with the aim to find the right person. Team collaboration and occasional face to face meetings will be required but essentially the job is home based.
