Summary Description :
In partnership with the Company’s Chief Technology Officer and Founder, the role of Vice President
– Process Development & Research is to evaluate and execute plans governing deployment of the Company’s technology, oversee continuing improvements to the Company’s manufacturing process, and manage tasks / deliverables which are executed by the Technology Team. The position will require collaboration with the Vadxx engineering and operations teams to assure successful deployment, performance, sustainability and profitability of the Company’s commercial-scale synthetic crude oil manufacturing plants.
Responsibilities Include :
Identify technology-related opportunities for and risks to the Company’s business plan; Contribution to strategic planning, particularly in evaluation of raw material sourcing; Evaluate new technology developed in house re: applicability, functionality in commercial-scale application, robustness and risk versus reward; Identify and evaluate application of alternative technology platforms; Select and manage outsourced service and equipment vendors; Manage the Vadxx Research & Development facility in Akron, Ohio; Provide task, manpower, cost and timeline budgets in collaboration with needs of the engineering and operations teams .
Execution :
As a key member of the Vadxx management team, this position is responsible for process development associated with commercialization. The position will serve as a “right hand” person to the Chief Technology Officer & Founder. Vadxx is seeking a professional who can translate and communicate concepts to the real world. The ideal candidate is good at forming hypotheses and deriving insights in the lab/test/theory/pilot environment, subsequently translating information into meaningful and actionable design elements for the Vadxx design/engineering/operations teams. Will work closely with and reports to the Chief Technology Officer & Founder.
Desired Background :
Professional with both scientific research and practical industry experience, preferably in the petrochemical, petroleum refining, catalysis, polymer, agrichemical, food processing and/or pharmaceutical industries; Advanced degree: Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Polymers desirable; Innovative, out of the box thinker; Excellent people management skills; Mechanical skills; High level presentation and multi-level communication skills; Ability to manage an experimental station and implement pilot plant projects; Strong project management track record of delivering on time and within budget.
